    sheet pan Greek nachos

For whatever reason, a delicious thought popped into my head the other day: Greek Nachos. Has it been done? I'm honestly not sure, but I knew I wanted to make some of my own.

    What makes these "Greek Nachos"?

These sheet pan nachos are inspired by Greek flavors. Instead of tortilla chips, we used pita chips. You will not find sour cream atop these nachos, but instead Tzatziki sauce. In addition to the pita chips and Tzatziki sauce, there is a variety of Greek staples such as Kalamata olives and Feta cheese.

the best sheet pan greek nachos recipe

    Ingredients

These sheet pan nachos start with the layering of pita chips on a baking sheet. The chips are then covered with seasoned ground beef (or lamb) and two kinds of cheese before they are baked in the oven. After the cheese has melted, these sheet pan nachos are loaded with delicious, fresh toppings.

    • Pita Chips - The most well-known brand is Stacy's.
    • Ground Beef or Ground Lamb - Plus, a tablespoon of olive oil for cooking.
    • Fresh Garlic - Minced.
    • Seasonings - Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
    • Cheeses - Shredded white cheese (provolone, white cheddar, or mozzarella) and crumbled feta.
    • Toppings - Diced fresh tomato, Kalamata olives, sliced red onion, parsley, or cilantro.
    • Tzatziki Sauce - Homemade or store-bought.

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
    2. Cook the ground beef (or lamb) with minced garlic. Drain the extra fat.
    3. Nacho Assembly: Spread out the pita chips in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet. Top with the ground beef (or lamb), making sure it is evenly spread out. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese and then the feta.
    4. Bake: Place into the oven and bake until heated through and the cheeses have melted for about 5-7 minutes.
    5. Top with the diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, and Kalamata olives. Evenly dollop the Tzatziki Sauce in various locations. Garnish with fresh herbs. Serve immediately.

    Tips and Ingredient Substitutions

    1. If you are missing the ingredients to make Tzatziki Sauce, you can simply dollop plain Greek Yogurt or hummus atop the nachos.
    2. As stated above, most fresh herbs would be great here. I had fresh cilantro in the fridge, so that is what I used. But, chopped mint or parsley would pair beautifully with the flavor profile of the nachos.
    3. The beauty of sheet pan nachos is that every bite has equal quantities of cheese and toppings. No worrying about finding the best bite! Make sure to evenly spread the toppings throughout.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep nachos crispy?

The beauty of this recipe is that the texture of the pita chips is firmer than tortilla chips, so sogginess is not as much an issue here. Additionally, the act of baking the nachos prior to adding all of the toppings assists in preventing sogginess as well.

    Can nachos be reheated?

Yes, you can reheat nachos but I say this with reservations. Do not expect to have the same textures as the original batch. In addition, remove the cold toppings before reheating. Reintroduce the cold toppings after heating or add additional fresh toppings. Reheat in the microwave.

Can these sheet pan nachos be made ahead of time?

If you need to make these nachos ahead of time, cook the beef mixture and prep all of the toppings. Spread the pita chips over the sheet tray, so the base is ready to go. Upon service, assemble and bake before garnishing.

These look so good and I love stacy's chips! You could even make this into a lunch with a salad on the side or something. They look like yummy nachos but more fresh and summery.

Simply delicious & so easy to make. The only thing I did differently was to serve the toppings separately so each person could add just what they liked. Will definitely serve this again. The Tzatziki sauce is amazing! Love the detailed instructions for preparation.
