Thanksgiving is around the corner; time to start finishing dessert plans. This Quick and Easy Caramel is the perfect accompaniment to any pie or fall flavored dessert. It would be perfect with a warm slice of apple pie a la mode with vanilla ice cream. It can be made ahead of time and kept in a container in the fridge. And, don’t worry, it’s as easy as 1-2-3 to make which will add no extra stress for a busy week of cooking and baking.
I still have yet to decide which pie, or pies, I will be making this year. But, I will be making a double-batch of homemade pie dough tomorrow, equipped with lots of butter. I cannot believe Thanksgiving is next week, even though it’s late this year. I am excited for the Black Friday deals and have already started a list of what we need. You better believe I will be putting up my Christmas decorations this weekend. I usually wait until after Thanksgiving, but with the late date, I want to be able to enjoy the decorations as long as possible. Like many, I’ve already begun listening to Christmas music and watching holiday movies. And, Christmas shopping has officially begun as of today.

I made this batch with dark brown sugar because that’s what I had on hand, which gave it a rich, dark color. Either variation of brown sugar will work. I believe the best caramel sauce is made with heavy cream; it’s always a must. Again, this caramel is perfect with any dessert you may place on your dessert table this upcoming holiday. It’s also great on a scoop of vanilla ice cream with roasted pecan pieces sprinkled atop. Whatever it’s pairing, this quick and easy caramel is everything you need.

Quick and Easy Caramel Sauce
- 1 cup brown sugar packed, dark or light
- ½ cup butter (1 stick) unsalted and cut into cubes
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- Place all ingredients into a saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for approximately one to two minutes, until mixture is thickened. Remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly before using.
