Heath Bar Brownies

Homemade Heath bar brownies are deliciously sweet, with Heath candy pieces and toffee bits baked in. The moist, cakey-style brownie has a scrumptious chocolate flavor with a crunchy, sweet toffee topping. This simple, made-from-scratch recipe is easy to make and delivers tasty brownies.

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder optional
  • ½ cup salted butter melted and cooled
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon oil canola, vegetable, or avocado oil
  • ½ cup Heath candy bars chopped, plus more for garnish if desired
  • ½ cup toffee bits

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set it aside. 
  • Whisk flour, cocoa powder, and espresso powder (if using) in a medium bowl. 
  • Mix {cooled} melted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar in a large bowl until combined. Add the eggs and mix vigorously. (Mix by hand or with an electric mixer). Whisk in the vanilla.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined. 
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth it into an even layer using a rubber spatula. Sprinkle Heath bar pieces and toffee bits over the brownie mixture. 
  • Bake brownies for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Sprinkle additional Heath candy bar pieces over the warm brownies after they come out of the oven if desired—Cool brownies on a wire rack before eating.
