2lbsmedium-sized applespeeled, cored, and chopped into 2" pieces
½cupwater
¼cuplight brown sugarpacked
½tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to coat. Cover and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat. For chunkier applesauce, use a potato masher to mash the apples until you reach your desired consistency. For smoother applesauce, use an immersion blender or food processor.
Serve warm or cold. Allow the applesauce time to cool to room temperature before transferring it to the fridge.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
The amount of water you use will dictate the consistency. This recipe is for a slightly chunky applesauce. For a smoother applesauce, double the quantity of water.
Keep in mind the size of your apples could alter the quantities in this recipe. There are roughly 3 medium-sized apples in a pound.
For a Cinnamon Applesauce, use one full teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
